My name is Erik Hammermaster and I was born and raised in Santa Cruz, CA.
As I was lucky enough to catch the last gasp of the seventies, my childhood was divided between beaches, transformers, drawings and skateboards. My first cassette tape was the Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure Soundtrack although the next was MC Hammer (insert joke + hammer dance here).
Soundwave (aahhhh, cassettes......)
Upon graduation from high school I embarked down the path of biochemistry, which although I was good at it, I decided was not the career for me. Looking for other areas to apply myself, I began to DJ at local clubs and thus developed a love affair with electronic music and it's creation. DJing gave rise to live performances with some very involved and hard to transport setups. Around this time I realized that I had quite the propensity for wiring and MIDI. I have always had love for the sciences as well as the arts and the combination of the two is what has inspired me to take the next step and become a sound engineer.
The Setup
I have recently graduated from Ex'pressions College with honors and a bachelors degree in Sound Arts and now reside in the Bay Area. I have a passion for the creation of new and interesting interactive soundscapes and the process of recording as well. I aspire to be a significant contributer to the industry and help to push forward the evolution of the way we record and create sound. My three loves are my music, my family, and my girl.
